Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish. -John Quincy Adams
Patience is a major part of putting a life on a success track. We do digest that old quote that says, “Anything worth doing is worth doing well.” But we certainly can build onto that saying by adding, “And generally that takes time.”
Patience and perseverance are a “state of mind” that we must allow ourselves to enter. There are very few things that we actually control but we can control our patients and perseverance in our lives, and develop them to a high level. Knee-jerk reactions don’t serve us well. It takes time to become good at anything, but not time doing nothing. You have to work hard at what you say you want to accomplish. Otherwise, your desires for success will never leave the dream stage and never, ever break into the plane of reality in your life.
Take your time and learn what you need to learn step-by-step over however long it takes. Being in a hurry and rushing to reach your goal can be the kiss of death. Sometimes we breeze right past valuable lessons and experiences that will not only get us to where we want to go but give us the staying power to remain there once we have arrived.
A good friend of mine, the late Dr. Tim Benson, used to say, “Obtaining success is one thing. Remaining successful once you’ve climbed that mountain is quite another, and in some cases harder than becoming successful in the first place.”
Learning patients and developing perseverance in tough situations are both learned experiences. If you don’t have them, you can develop them with practice and focus.
If you take your time, really examine where you are and focus on where you want to go, you can put herself in the right state of mind that is a must for making progress on your dreams. Build your life the right way, by being patient and persevering trials and bumps in the road as they come, you’ll develop skills, wisdom and knowledge to last you a lifetime.
THOT:
Usually, the first thing that comes to your mind is the emotional response. Get past that to the thoughtful, planned out response. Whatever you do, don’t quit because it’s hard. I’ll tell you right now, life is hard, becoming successful is hard, building something worthwhile in your life is hard, but it’s also very doable. If you have to change your tactics, your path or your process, do it because you thought it out and that’s the best way to reach your goal.
